The Leinenkugel Brewery Tour

Friday, August 5th 

Today afternoon, we went to the Leinenkugel Brewery, which has long history. We were excited that we could visit the brewery, and also could drink the beer.

I has passed 21, so I got 4 tickets for Leinenkugel beer, with a brewery stamp on the hand. The stamp was very beautiful. I chose a sweet sample, took into consideration that I did not drink usually. Tried a little, it tasted like beverage, and good.

Then we were guided to visit the producing departments of the Leinenkugel Brewery. We learned the history of the company, and the whole process: from raw materials to made, and to delivery. We went around the departments, and knew more about the product and company.

It is a interesting and helpful tour.

The Dairy Farm

Saturday, July 30th

After lunch, we went to the Dairy Farm by bus. As soon as we got off the bus, we saw many caws in the cowsheds.

We visited the place where milk was collected first. I supposed that we could milk by ourselves, But, in order to meet the large requirement of market, the farm do milk by machine for height efficiency. What is a pity.

Then we came to the caws. These caws were separated on age and whether pregnancy. In the beginning, the caws were afraid of us, when we went close to them, they all hid into the cowsheds. But a few minutes later, when the caws felt we would not hurt them, they put their heads out of the cowsheds, and licked our hands. How cute they were!

The Amish Tour

Saturday, July 30th

We got up early for the Amish tour in the morning. On the way to the destination, we all were attracted by the beautiful scenery, taking photos. There were some houses in the endless green grass. Birds or crows always could be seen. Everything seems so harmonious.

Amish people live in a traditional life. They do not use electricity, cars and technologies. So we can see buggies passed by, which is kind of transportation they use and people work hard in their farms. The guide told us that Amish clothing is characteristic, and men and women wear different clothing, so we can know some information from the clothing.

At last, we visited an Amish house which is particular for tourist visit. So we can know more about the family life of Amish. What impress me deeply are Amish like putting tables near the windows for full use of light, and they like using blue curtains.

The Chippewa Valley Museum and The Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum

Friday, July 29th

Today, we begin our excursions of Wisconsin. We went to the Chippewa Valley Museum and the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum in the afternoon after class.

First we visited the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum. We looked around the history room, cook shanty, bunkhouse and etc. In the history room, we also saw a video about lobbing. After this visit I know more about the life of loggers: the job was hard, the living environment was bad.

Then we visited the Chippewa Valley Museum. It consists of two parts. One is in-door, the other is out-door. Various kinds of objects show the changes of the valley. With stereo-movie, we adventures in history of life of people who lived in the valley. The thing which impressed me deeply is Sunnyview School. When I sit in the seat, I felt that I had been in primary school. The school seems as there were still students in the classroom. When the bell rings, students in different grades would come in.
